Quick Reviews: SilkyGirl BB Cream

Yesss there's a new drugstore called Facelook that recently just opened one of their stores about 3 minutes drive from my house. I had to go to Watsons all this time which is about 15 minutes from my house and I'm a lazy bum haha and sometimes I like going into these drugstores like Watson and Guardian so that I can waste my money on things that I don't even use sometimes. I'm a girl and that's what we do best. More on that later.

So, I bought some make-up stuff and I wanna tell you about what I think about this products. This would be my first time trying to review a cosmetics product and I haven't use a lot of cosmetics products to be honest but since I have tried them, why not sharing my opinion right? I haven't tried that many BB Cream products before but I plan on trying some new brands in the future. And to avoid wasting our money over some products which are not suitable for our likings *thumb down*
Yes, I'm an avid SilkyGirl user as I'm just a poor ordinary university student haha and I don't really wear makeup everyday. So, I don't need those expensive ones though I'd like to try them one day hmm. Maybe, I'll do other cosmetics brand reviews later.

1. SilkyGirl Magic BB Water Gel

This is not to be confused with SilkyGirl Magic BB Cream which not only have almost similar name but also very similar packaging colour and style. I know this because I got confused at first lol. Turns out this one is very liquid hence why the water gel compared to the normal bb cream which is well creamy. So Water Gel is easier to apply to your skin. You just have to put a little on the tip of your finger, dots around your face and . You do not need to apply so much as it will break especially on line areas like under your eyes and your cheek line (this only happened if you put too much on those areas though) but this bb cream is probably the most natural bb cream I've ever tried because it blends perfectly with my skin and not so cakey and thick on your face.It helps to cover your small pimple scars but I don't have much pimple scars (lucky me yay) but it evens out my skin tone which I like the most about it, not to mention it makes my skin look natural. Comes in two not-so different colours: 01 Natural and 02 Radiant. Radiant is actually a little darker than Natural. I've used both but I don't see much difference in both colours or maybe it's just me. However, you can try first and choose which one you like the most according to your skin colour. Coverage is light to medium.

Pros: Even out your skintone, conceals, brigthens and reduce visible pores
Very lightweight, easy to bring anywhere: Pocket friendly
         Affordable price about RM20
Very easy to apply on your skin
         Light to medium coverage
Last the whole day: I usually apply in the morning and lasts through the day
I use it almost everyday and it could last for 4 to 5 months
         Not cakey, looks natural
         Has SPF 30

Cons: Great for normal, but dry to combination skin as it contains sodium hyalunorate
          a.k.a Hyalunoric Acid
After some months, the cream and water began not to mix with each other.
Because when I squeezed it out, water would come out first and then the cream would come out. I don't know why but this shouldn't be a problem if you use it regularly and it only happened after I haven't used it for a long time (over a month) and after 4 to 5 months I purchased it.

Recommended or not: Definitely yes.

2. SilkyGirl Magic BB Stick Foundation

Both this and the previous product were recommended by my friends. I actually used this one first and then I discovered the Water Gel and I began to use that one instead. It's a powder foundation so it's up to you, you can still apply compact powder afterwards or not either is fine. You can use it directly on your face but you have to pat it lightly (not glide it all over your face) because if you use it too hard, you will get small facial hair and dust stick to the powder so this is not hygienic and we don't want to get unhygienic things on our face right. It's better to use a brush instead. Dont put too much, it will become all white and cakey, you do not want that nope. Coverage is mild to medium. If you like powder form products rather than cream or liquid, you would like this one. Comes in two shades: Natural and Medium. I use Natural.

Pros: Very soft texture and easy to use

          Blends well with your skin
Even out your skintone, conceals, brigthens and reduce visible pores
Powder foundation. It's powder and foundation, two-in-one.
          Has SPF 25
Very lightweight and easy to bring anywhere: Pocket friendly

Cons: Hygienic issue. Pat lightly not glide all over your face. Use brush instead.
It claims to work for 12 hours. I would say it last about 4 to 5 hours.
A bit cakey if put too much

Recommended or not: Yea, it's quite good.

3. SilkyGirl Magic BB White Cream

This product has the same name with the powder foundation (the compact powder one) if I'm not mistaken, I'm so confused with Silkygirl products' names sometimes huhu.

This is a good but maybe not the best bb cream out there. Bought this one because I was in a hurry to meet my boyfriend and I didn't put anything on my face at that time (can you imagine going out with your boyfriend without a single make-up touch not even applying powder lol.. but that's me yup). So, anyway this bb cream is okay but I find it a little difficult to blend it out evenly on my face. Maybe it's a little too dry for me. It's not that difficult but I prefer water gel of course. I don't know about brighten up my face haha but it does says with continuous usage. Well, it does but not a lot you will have to use foundation if you want a better coverage though. It does cover your imperfections and brighten your skintone a little. You have to blend it out carefully with your finger to have it look natural on your face. Comes in two shades: Natural and Radiant. Radiant is darker than medium okay. Coverage is medium.

Pros: Lasts through the whole day
Could last for 4 to 5 months
         Brighten up your skintone slightly
         Cover imperfection
         Has SPF 50

Cons: Not suitable for oily skin
A bit dry to blend it out all over your face
Not really help in brighten and lighten up your skin
A bit cakey if put too much

Recommended or not: An a-okay product. I'd say yes, you can try it.

All these products are available in local Watson, SASA, Guardian and Facelook.

So, tell me what do you think of these products if you have tried it or if you wanna recommend me any bb creams that you like, do that. Because we are all ordinary human beings and we need each others' supports to live in this world (Idek what I'm talking about). Hence, why product reviews are so important hahaha.

Indie Bands That You Might Be Missing Out

Indie Bands To Look Out For

People who knows me in real life would know my unhealthy obsession of indie bands. Not trying to be rare or a hipster mind you (LOL) but I've been into indie music for some years now. So this is basically my recommendation for you guys out there if you wanna start listening to indie or if you simply want new music to listen to. This is just my way of telling you some of my favorite bands and if you enjoy them, let me know because we could totally be best friends haha. If you have any similar recommendation, please don't hesitate to share with me. Good music are meant to be shared and I believe that music connects people.

PS. if you happen to find this post, I am not a music reviewer and this is not a music review blog, this is a personal blog and a personal recommendation based on my own interests. So, don't waste your time leaving rude comments okay? :)

  • Kodaline

My current favorite band. I fell in love with their music when I listened to All I Want the first time. Their album "In A Perfect World" marks the full debut of young Irish four lads. What I love the most about them is not only their very damn good music and Steve's very damn great voice but their lyrics, their words are so meaningful. He sing his pain, you can tell. You couldn't help it but wonder yourself who has made them so emotional and in pain? Their music hits you right in the heart and if you're easily touched or an emotional person like me, you're gonna love it hahaha. No, but really, have a listen and you will thank me later. It offers a great piece of easy listening to sit back and chill out to. Try listening to All I want (check out the two music videos on youtube), High Hopes, Love Like This and you will be hooked in no time haha. All I Want is one of the track in The Fault In Our Stars OST Soundtrack. I think watching them live would be fantastic and an enjoyable experience because this band gives great and whole-heartedly performances. Watch their High Hopes (Acoustic From Paris) video and All I Want live video. See it for yourself. Summary for their music: So much emotion, simply beautiful and amazing. A band with a great debut (though it's a "heartwrenching" one), a lot of people seem to like their music and I think Kodaline has a very bright future *clap clap*

"Titles like “High Hopes”, “Brand New Day” and “Big Bad World” indicate the pasteurised, bloodless fare on offer here, with individual tracks styled around specific influences: the ersatz Keane sincerity of “After the Fall”, the strumming Mumfordry of “Love Like This”, the Coldplay-style piano and falsetto vocal catch of “All I Want”. Whether lamenting lost love, or fretting over the meaning of life and “what it's all about”, the songs are uniformly inflated to arena-size by blustery arrangements and singalong hooks..." - independent.co.uk/

Now that I think about it, Kodaline does have that Coldpay and Snow Patrol vibes (the two bands that I have been listening since elementary school)

Kodaline - All I Want
Watch the second part because I cried watching the second one lol.

  • Daugther

This band is perfecto period. I've only just recently discovered this band's awesomeness though I have listened to Youth since last year but never had the chance to listen to the rest of their songs. Youth has one of the best lyrics I've ever listened to. "If You Leave" is such a great album with phenomenally beautiful music and heart-rending songs. I know what you're thinking "What's up with this girl and her obsession with heart-wrenching songs?" Yes, I admit I enjoy them. I listen to them even I'm feeling like I'm on top of the world. Is that bad? Nope because I enjoy it and that's what matters lol. A lot of people say that Elena's voice somehow remind them of The Florence And The Machine. Not sure about that since I don't really listen to them but this could be useful if you like The Florence And The Machine. I think Daughter has some similarities with The XX, another great band to look out for. Eerie, haunting, richly atmospheric collection of songs that might not vary much in mood, but have enough emotion and great songwriting to really hold its own. But it is obvious that the most remarkable thing here is the songwriting which everything is a sweet mess. It's weird how we love to be so sad or is it just me I wouldn't know.
And if you're in love, then you are the lucky one,
'Cause most of us are bitter over someone.
Setting fire to our insides for fun,
To distract our hearts from ever missing them.
But I'm forever missing him.                                   - Youth by Daughter

Daughter - Youth

  • The 1975

One of the most popular UK bands in 2014. They got so much recognition though they are one of the newest bands but their music is indeed very unique and has their own style to it. With their lyrical focus on teen sex, drugs, money and the misplaced glamour of crime, the band is not just "Boys Wanna Have Fun" type of bands but they are much more than that. The tenth track, Robbers, is definitely my personal favorite on this album. A combination of Matt's voice, with a beautiful tone, the emotion behind it, the powerful and devastating lyrics accompanied by a beautiful track, this song will leave you numb. Such a hipster band in my opinion, I love it haha. Some songs are catchy and upbeat like The City, Girls and Chocolate and some slow songs like Woman. With an 80s vibe in it, this band continues making a fast-growing fan base. Definitely can't wait for their next album.

The 1975 - Chocolate

  • CHVRCHES

I know I know you must be wondering how the hell are you going to pronounce that. It's actually from the word Churches except the U letter is changed into V. But that's how you pronounce it, Churches. Finally a band which are not into heart-wrenching songs (which I really like oh well) but their songs are fresh, upbeat, electronical synth pop, dancing up in the air type of songs. “Lies”, “Gun”, “Recover” and “The Mother We Share” are the songs that you listen to whenever you are in the mood for something catchy and upbeat but still meaningful at the same time. Lauren Mayberry has this quiet inner rage that gets projected powerfully in this song, as well as some of her other work. She's also too cute to be true. I remember watching her and thought is she like 15? Nope, she's like 25 but have a cute innocent girly face with a strong, haunting and powerful voice. Not Fair right? Not fair. They came to Malaysia back in November but guess what I didn't go because I was in Indonesia at that time tsk. I can't tell you how much I regret it that I missed seeing them live because people say they are absolutely incredible live, great stage presence and sounds good live so if you like having a good time, definitely go see them with your friends have some crazy time lol.

CHVRCHES - Gun
Favorite song of them.
  • Arctic Monkeys

So, do I really need to introduce them? Probably the best band in Britain and one of the most interesting bands of the decade. Their music is simply a masterpiece. The best album in my opinion is AM, now before you go "Are you freaking kidding me? AM is the shittiest album of theirs" or "If you like AM, then you are not a true Arctic Monkeys fan" Grow the fuck up please. Their previous albums were great but AM is very different and isn't that good? They created an album which is slightly different from their normal tunes and that's not something many bands can do. AM sees Arctic Monkeys take another step in their evolution and change. And you must admit that AM was their most successful album and it was the album that caused Arctic Monkeys to have grown such a big fan base they are having right now. So, my recommendation is that listen to their AM album, absolutely one of my favorite albums ever.

Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know

  • The XX

A British Indie pop band. The world adored the xx's Mercury Prize-winning debut album xx. Coexist is even a better album than Mercury though not as strong as xx. My summary of their music would be simple, dark, honest and beautiful. Great albums, it's hard to make a decision which oe is my favorite though. Islands and Angels are my favorites. Their music is so different, can be catchy and can be dark and haunting that gives you goosebumps ugh I love it.

The XX- Islands

Yeah, that's a wrap lol. 6 amazing bands, one personal taste. It's odd that these bands seem to have at least one thing in common and I guess you know what it is :P
This was fun so I might do a second part. Have a listen and tell me what you think.
Thanks for reading. Bye.

The Start of The Mind

Finally a serious attempt for me to start a real blog. I had a blog back then in 2009 when I was still a school kid and I was posting in my Livejournal account like it was my personal diary. Happily, without regrets.. Now just thinking about it makes me cringe and facepalm myself in the face. Then I have a tumblr blog which I still occasionally post until now where I posted some of my writings there but I decided that I don't want to just write excerpts and essays and stories, I want to write about lots of things. And this time, I want to interact with people instead of just letting people read what I write. I want feedback. I want honest opinions. I want to read and to know more. I like to know more about a lot of things. I wanna improve my writing skills and hopefully one day I'll be able to write for waitbutwhy.com haha. I love that site.

So I'm going to post about my writings (excerpts, short stories that may or may not happen in my life haha, poems, lyrics), music (from music reviews to recommendations to the concerts or shows I attended), piano tutorials and covers (yes I play piano but this might take some time considering my keyboard now is having a problem and I think I have yet to buy a new one tsk), books recommendation (I'm a book nerd but not many people know about this), food (me and my friends are foodies and food-hunters), movies or tv shows, travels, DIY Projects and other stuff. Guess I should be working for my first post now. Wait sorry, I meant second.
